![]() Each year the kids and I work on a piece of writing that's nothing like what they've done before. This year, I'm excited to take this assignment one step further and actually have our work published by Scholastic! At the beginning of the year I outlined the concept and general story behind our story; the tale of Malcolm Beaverstock. A lanky eleven-year-old making his way across the country to find his family. Each of the kids has been tasked with writing a chapter of this story. Their chapters will each take place in specific cities and states along his journey. Many of the kids have finished their first drafts and are moving into their next drafts, but others are still working through ideas. If you would like to see what your child has written, it's all on their Google Drive! Please feel free to give them some ideas, perhaps a novel way for Malcolm to experience a particular part of our country. Once all of the chapters have been finished, I will be sending off our book to Scholastic where it will be turned into a bound book for us. If you are interested in purchasing a copy of the story, I will be sending home in formation next week with how you can order your own copy! There's no obligation to order the book, but I know that everyone is going to be very proud when they see their finished story on our bookshelf to be enjoyed for many years to come!
