What an absolutely beautiful day! I'm pretty jealous that I wasn't able to get outside during recess with the kids - but we all enjoyed the nice warm breeze during our fire drill. It was a very busy day as we inch closer and closer to vacation. Everyone is finishing up projects and papers, and there is a very studious buzz in the air in the room.
Tomorrow we will be wrapping up our work that we completed during our Injustice unit. I will be showing the movie Hidden Figures to the class. This was the movie that we brought the 6th grade to the theater last year to see and it was incredible. I'm sure most of you have already seen the movie, but for those who have not it is the true story of the brilliant African-American women who battled both racial and gender stereotypes and prejudice to help turn around the American space program at NASA and help send John Glenn into space. Due to the thematic elements of race and gender, the film has a PG rating, so if you would prefer your student not watch this with the class please let me know. It truly is a wonderful movie and has an inspiring message for all students that they can achieve greatness in the face of whatever adversity they may face in their lives.
