We've come to the end of another great week. Too many positive things from this week to count, but a few highlights included an epic Blooket battle in Social Studies, cheering on Brian as he finally makes fire in our Hatchet books, and discovering the suspenseful fun that can be had with our Tales of Fright! I hope you all have a great weekend and I'll see you on Monday!

Today was another great day in 6P! We continued our work in Social Studies looking at a variety of maps and learning about the 5 features of geography. In math we plotted points onto coordinate grids and even found time to continue our often asked for read aloud! It was a whirlwind of a day, but certainly a great one!

It was another beautiful fall weekend here in New Hampshire. It sounds like lots of people came out to enjoy Pumpkin Fest in Milford - not to mention numerous soccer games and other family fun. Today we started our new pod formation with Mr. Vetack and Mrs. Miller at recess and lunch, so there were new opportunities for interactions with some new friends! We're continuing our work in writing on our Tales of Fright and will begin our drafts this week as we move towards their due date at the end of the month. I'm looking forward to seeing (and reading) what kinds of spooky happenings and scifi words the kids create.

The end of another week has come and the kids are more than ready for a long weekend. We played a fun new game today that not only tested their multiplication facts, state capital knowledge, and food identification - but also their cunning as they swapped and stole points from each other on the way to victory. In all my years of teaching I've never had a more overwhelmingly positive response to something new like this. I can't wait to give this another chance next week. Speaking of next week, we're going to be beginning our Parent-Teacher conferences. I look forward to sharing positive news about your students and how great they really are. I hope you all have a wonderful long weekend and I'll see you back here on Tuesday!

Happy Wednesday! We're halfway through our week and what a gorgeous day it was! Not only did the kids enjoy recess and lunch outside, but they were treated to their second Environmental Science lesson of the year today which meant another trip to the nature trail with Mr. Bothmer. They worked extremely hard on their retake tests and I'm very pleased with the progress that is being shown in their work as well. Looking forward to continuing our work and discussions tomorrow - hope you all have a great night!

Information has been sent out about our Parent-Teacher Conference and I'm already seeing many of you have signed up. Thank you so much for that and I really am looking forward to sharing how wonderful your children are! We continued our work today in Writing with some work on suspense. If you have a favorite novel or movie that would fall under this genre, feel free to share what made it suspenseful with your child for another real-world example. Social Studies began today with a brief introduction to what we'll be covering this year as well as our initial focus ... Map Skills! Tomorrow will be our re-test for Topic 1 in math, and I've given the kids a fun review activity to just help a little bit more. Everyone seems to be in a much better place in their understanding, and I anticipate much success in the near future! Have a great day, everyone!

Welcome back to another wonderful week here at HUES. We've officially entered Parent-Teacher Conference season so please be on the lookout for a signup email to be going out very soon. Conferences will be held starting next week and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at some point over the next few weeks. Today we finished our latest science lab so be sure to ask your 6th grader about how their bridge faired. We had some great discussions about how they're designed to carry extreme loads. We began our unit on Hatchet today as well and look forward to lots of great discussions surrounding Brian and his adventures in surviving in the Canadian wilderness.

We made it! September is safely in the rear view and next week we'll be moving full speed ahead! I'm very excited for what we have in store and, hopefully, the kids do too! It looks like there's a bit of rain on the forecast for next week, so I hope everyone enjoys a nice weekend before it hits our area.
