![]() Happy Thursday! Well, today was the last day of the month and tomorrow we'll welcome the season of spookiness and I, for one, can't wait! While not my favorite season, Fall is certainly up there fighting for that top spot each year. I love the crispness of the air, the pumpkin spice everything, and the excitement on my son's face when he changes his mind about what he wants to be for Halloween for the 346th time since the summer ended. Today the class took a look at the results from their first math topic test. As this was our first assessment, it allowed me the opportunity to walk the children through the process that they'll take after future assessments. In the coming days, they will be working to make corrections to the problems that they had missed. I have also shared a Google Slide with them to help with reteaching the material from our first topic. Between tomorrow and next Tuesday, the children will be working during their WING periods with me for one-on-one coaching, small group reteaching, and independent practicing with the goal of walking in Wednesday morning even more prepared for their retake. Between now and our retest date, if your child has free time at home I will be sharing several IXL practice exercises to continue to strengthen those weaker areas. I appreciate the help between home and school to ensure that your superstars are getting everything they need for success! Homework for Thursday, September 30th, 2021

![]() We've officially made it through the halfway point of our last week of the month. Thankfully today brought some beautiful, fall weather as well as some much needed sunshine. Tomorrow we'll be enjoying our next science lab where we'll engineer and design a popsicle stick bridge to support the most weight possible before failure. I'm looking forward to seeing how everyone performs! Homework for Wednesday, September 29th, 2021
![]() What a wet and wild Tuesday we had here today at HUES. The forecast looked halfway decent this morning with only a small drizzle in the late afternoon - but the torrential storm raging outside our windows before the morning announcements apparently didn't bother listening to that forecast. Thankfully, the rain cleared out by the time we were getting ourselves prepped for indoor recess and the kids were able to sneak outside for some nice fresh air. Our afternoon was spent continuing our discussions about our Symbols Project, paragraph writing, and our upcoming science lab tomorrow where we'll be donning our engineering caps to solve a problem. All in all, it was a solid day and we're all looking forward to tomorrow! Homework for Tuesday, September 28th, 2021
![]() I hope everyone had a great weekend. It might have been the last stretch of warm weather that we'll see until next Spring, but it sure was nice! We're looking forward to meeting with our School Resource Officer this week and find out a little more about him and what things he'll be working with the kids on this school year. We're very lucky to have Officer Kush with us this year and I know the kids are looking forward to working with him. No other news on the horizon, but as things come up I'll let everyone know! ![]() A great big thank you to all the families who were able to join me last night. It was wonderful to share with everyone many of the fun activities we've done so far this year as well as some that are in store for the future. Tomorrow we'll be heading down to the science lab to complete our first lab of the year, so make sure you grab yourself an empty plastic bottle if you're able to. See you all tomorrow! ![]() Another day has come and gone and we're one day closer to the weekend! You all did a wonderful job today and I'm very glad that you were able to get outside for recess, even if our Environmental Studies lesson was in the lab. I'm excited to meet your parents tonight and look forward to hearing about how they liked our room and what I had to say! Please share some of the fun things that we're doing together with your parents and I'll see you all tomorrow! Homework for Wednesday, September 22nd, 2021
![]() I just wanted to say that everyone did a wonderful job on their AIMSWEB testing this morning. You all worked hard, thought through each question, and I look forward to seeing what you achieve on this benchmark assessment. As a reminder, we'll be working on the reading assessment tomorrow! Other than that, today was another beautiful day that I was happy to spend much of outside in the fresh air. I hope that you're all able to get outside this afternoon when you get home too!
